These admins make me so nervous. I don't understand why it has to be this way. In all my experiences before NY, this would have never even been thought of by the administration.

If it makes you feel any better, today was NOT in fact our last day off until Thanksgiving -- we have off for Veterans Day on Tuesday 11/11, and Election Day (on Tuesday 11/4) is a "Professional Development Day," which means we have to come to school but the kids don't (and I consider any day for which I don't have to plan and may wear jeans its own kind of holiday!).

At my school, we are told that when we are observed, we should be prepared to hand over a copy of our lesson (even though we're not given advance notice of an observation), and our administration "strongly suggests" certain things that "at a minimum" should be part of our lesson. So as you have probably already noticed, not to sound bitter or anything, there are ways that administrators get around the union's contract.

Well, just so you know, our contract says we can write our lesson plans any way we choose. Administration can not dictate format or contents.
